If you’re referring to unlocking the Vivo V40e demo unit, it’s important to clarify whether you’re trying to:
- Unlock the device from a specific carrier (SIM unlock).
- Unlock the device’s bootloader (developer mode, custom ROMs).
- Bypass or unlock the demo mode (used in retail or display models).
Here’s a breakdown for each scenario:
1. SIM Unlock (Carrier Unlock)
- If the phone is locked to a specific carrier, you would need to contact the carrier directly to request an unlock code. Usually, they will provide this for free after you’ve met certain criteria (like completing the contract or paying off the phone).Steps:
- Contact the carrier’s customer service.
- Provide necessary information such as IMEI number (you can get it by dialing *#06#).
- Once you get the unlock code, input it into the phone when prompted with a “SIM Network Unlock Pin.”
2. Unlock Bootloader (Developer Mode)
- Unlocking the bootloader typically allows you to install custom ROMs, recoveries, and perform other developer-related tasks. Vivo devices often have a bootloader unlocking process that requires a few steps. But note, unlocking the bootloader might void your warranty and could cause data loss.Steps:
- First, backup your data (this will wipe the device).
- You may need to request an unlock code from Vivo’s official site or use third-party tools (like Fastboot) to unlock the bootloader.
- Enable “Developer options” in Settings > About Phone > Tap “Build number” 7 times.
- Enable “OEM unlocking” and “USB debugging” in Developer Options.
- Connect the phone to a PC and use Fastboot commands (e.g.,
fastboot oem unlock
).
3. Bypass Demo Mode (Retail/Display Units)
- Demo Mode is typically used on display models in stores, showing off features in a loop, and often limits certain functions. To unlock or disable this mode on a demo unit, the device may require special software or access to the service menu (which may not be directly accessible to the public).Steps:
- Factory Reset: In some cases, a factory reset may remove demo settings.
- Power off the device.
- Hold the Volume Up + Power buttons to enter recovery mode.
- Select Wipe data/factory reset from the options.
- Service Codes: Some Vivo devices have service codes that can disable demo mode. These codes are not publicly shared but might be available from Vivo’s service center or authorized partners.
- Factory Reset: In some cases, a factory reset may remove demo settings.
Warning:
- If the phone is still in its demo unit state, it might have some restrictions or configurations imposed by the manufacturer. Attempting to bypass demo restrictions without authorization may violate the terms of use or void the warranty.
If you’re unsure or the device is locked in a demo mode that cannot be bypassed easily, contacting Vivo support or visiting an authorized service center is recommended.
